Prem Kumar Maheshwari has spent his working life in the Kunri chilli trade, learning the market the way it has always been learned — on the floor, lot by lot, season after season. He grades by hand, negotiates in the open and signs his name to every account.
His approach is simple: the farmer must understand exactly what his crop earned, and the buyer must receive exactly what was promised. Nothing about a transaction should need explaining afterwards.
